The UK High Court's [2026] EWHC 2778 (Admin) judgment records that Senior Crown Prosecutor Ravinder Dhillon relied on a case called R v J. The judgment says the authority did not exist. Dhillon later explained that she meant a different real decision. The court called the explanation "unsatisfactory", but said the fictitious citation did not affect the outcome of the challenge to continuing the prosecution. The Guardian reports that the reference came from an AI response during an internet search; the judgment does not find that AI caused the citation.
