The claim lands alongside a separate, large-scale infrastructure commitment from Tata Consultancy Services and its partners, who have proposed a roughly ₹70,000 crore AI data-centre campus in Telangana with about one gigawatt of capacity — one of the largest single AI infrastructure investments announced in India to date, and a sign that the country’s largest IT firms are betting heavily on domestic compute capacity rather than relying solely on foreign cloud providers.
Separately, research from Microsoft has identified India as an unusually large market for what it calls “Frontier Professionals” — workers who report AI enables genuinely new kinds of work rather than just faster execution of existing tasks. The research found 32 percent of Indian users fit that category, roughly double the 16 percent global figure, positioning India as one of the more advanced testing grounds anywhere for human-AI collaborative workflows.
